Today I went to Seodaemun Prison History Hall in Mariestory. We went to the Torture Room and saw the terrible tortures the Japanese did to Koreans. There were lots of kinds of tortures. There was the water torture, which was pouring water over the face of a person who was hung upside down. Then there was the torture when the Japanese guards poked the jaiilors' fingernails and mouths with a sharp stick. It was very scary.
Then we went to the prison cells. We saw some cells with mannequins. There were sticks to sign to other prisoners and guards. Then there was the solitary confinement. It was very very dark. The prisoners could not go to the bathroom because there wasn't any place to go. The solitary confinement was less then one pyung. It must have been very painful to stay there. |
