I went to Seodaemun Prison History Hall today. Seodaemun Prison was a prison for patriots and Korean freedom fighters. It was ther biggest prison that Japanese built during the period of colony. One of the prisoner in Seodaemun Prison was a female freedom fighter called Yu, Kwan-sun. She is famouse for leading the March 1st movementin 1919. She was a just a student of Ehwa women's school. Then she went back to her home town and planned a joint demonstration with other towns and she started on the 1st of March at the Awoonae marcket place. She was arrested by Japanese during this movement and inprisoned in the Seodaemun prison. Eventhough, Japanese tortured her, she never gave up Korea's independence. She died in prison in 1920, ar the age of 18. There are alot of freedon fighter in Korea that died for their country. I think they are really brave and also, I think people in Korea have to respect them evertime. |
