Have you ever been to Unhyeongung palace? A while ago, I've been to Unhyeongung palace and it was so interesting so I'll introduce it to you. First of all, unhyeongung palace was personal house of Heungseon Daewongun, the father-in-law of empress Myeongseong. In Joseon dynasty, we didn't call personal houses palaces but Unhyeongung palace was where emperor Gojong grew, so that's why Unhyeongung is called Unhyeongung palace. there are two qurters that are Sarangche and Anche. Sarangche is the men's living qurter, and Anche is the women's living qurter. Noandang is Sarangche is Unhyeongung palace. Noandang means, living peacefully until old age. Heungseon Daewongun drew grass and flowers in Noandang. I think Heungseon Daewongun was very sentimental man at heart. Norackdang is first Anche in Unhyeongung palace. It was the place that empress Myeongsung learned how to be a good queen. And also, empress Myeongsung and emperor Gojong married here. But when they got married, Heungseon Daewongun's wife got nowhere to live. So they built another Anche. Another Anche was called Irodang. Irodang was for Heungseon Dawongun's wife. If I were Heungseon Daewongun's wife, I can think of two ways of it. First is she can be angry because she could think she was kicked out of Norackdang. And second is she can be glad because she can now live in new built room. Unhyeongung palace was little bit too simple for a palace, but fancy for personal house. So I think it is perfectly fancy for crown prince could live when he was young. It's because, if crown prince live in too fancy place since too young, I think he could be greedy, but if crown prince or king live in just ordinary house, noble peoples can scorn them. So I think Gojong was lucky to live in perfect house for crown prince. What do you think?
Thank you >v<
