<Un-hyun Palace>

  Today, I went to Un-hyun Palace. At Un-hyun Palace, I learned about 3 characters at that time. Those characters are King Gojong, Heungsun Daewongun, and Queen Min. Have you ever heard about these three characters? I like all those 3 characters.

First, King Gojong was the 26th king of Joseon Dynasty. He became the king at the age 12. King Gojong became the king so early because King Cheoljong died young and didn't have any sons. King Gojong changed the name of Joseon to Dae-han-je-guk. Therefore, the country became an empiry and Gojong became an emperor.

  Second, Heungsun Daewongun was the father of King Gojong. When Heungsun Daewongun was living, Andong Kim's clan pressed the royal family. However, they didn't care about Heungsun Daewongun because he hung out with gangsters and pretended to be a fool. Heungsun Daewongun was an ambitious man and wanted to have power, but the Andong Kim's clan wouldn't make him have any power. He pretented not to be powerful. When his young son, Gojong, became king, he ruled Joseon instead of him.

  Third, Queen Min was the most interesting part. Queen Min was the wife of King Gojong. She studied about how to be a good queen in Norak-Dang. She played an active part in politics of Joseon. Queen Min wanted to make Korea modernized so she tried to have a close relationship with Russia. However, the Japanese hated that idea. Therefore, Japanese murdered Queen Min and burned her body. I think it is a very sad story of Korea. I felt very sad.
