Today I visited to Changdeok palace which was for king Tae jong and it is one of the eastern palaces. The palace has rebuilt because it destroyed during the japanese invasion. Now let’s go inside of the palace. Before entering we have to cross

the DonHwa-Mun where the gate has two story building in the second floor and there are a bell and a drum. Can you guess why they have them in there, because they have to strike them. It was knocked at 33times at 4Am and at 28times 10Pm. We across the bridge which has the meaning that are to divide the common people’s land and king’s palace, and to clean their mind before meet a king. You can find there was a positional discrimination.

Over the bridge we can see the InJeong-Jeon in which would hold for the formal events such as coronations is a prince and a princesses became the king or queen. Next building is SeonJeong-Jeon where the king does daily work. You have got not to be confused with HuiJeong-dang which is a chamber, but SeongJeong-Jeon is not chamber, just building to have daily work.

We can see a picture in the king’s room. The picture’s name is 일월오봉도 which represent that the sun represent the king, the moon represent the Queen, the mountains represent the 인의예지신, the pine tree represent the trustful official servant, and water means common people. Old people believe that 일월오봉도 made king look more solemn.

The Changdeok palace was for king and Queen’s main residence, Seokbokheon is a building for their son and Daejojeon is for Queen.

The king Taejong has very lovely family because Changdeok palace is very sumptuous palace and famliar with me. I want to live there like a king.
