Today, I went to Sungkyunkwan. After watching lots of historical buildings and monuments, I thought the dormitories, Hamabi and the gingko trees were the most interesting.
Dongjae and Seojae are two dormitories inside Sungkyunkwan. At Dongjae and Seojae, students of Sunkyunkwan studied, read books and slept. Studnts woke up at 6 in the morning by the sound of the drum.
Hamabi is a stone monument that is usually at sacred places. It was built by Youngjo, the 21th king of the Joseon dynasty. It indicates that one should dismount from the horse regardless of his social status.
Inside Sungkyunkwan, there are two gingko trees that are more than 500years old. They were planted inside Sungkyunkwan because Confucius used to teach his disciples under a gingko tree. Students at Sungkyunkwan studied Confucianism under these trees.
After walking and learning about Sungkyunkwan, I felt exhausted. However, I was surprised that  students woke up at 6 am. Also, I was especially astounded when I heard that the gingko trees were more than 500years old. I am already looking forward going to changgyeongung!
