Invitation to the latest Joseon royal culture
Today I went to Unhyeon Palace. It was owned by Heungseon Deawongun, the father of King Gojong. King Gojong lived until 12 years old.
The right of the front gate, there was Sujiksa where guards and servants stayed here.
Before went to Noan-dang, there was lofty gate. Lofty gate was highter than the wall. It could go with a horse or sedan chair. It was high to represent the pride of the noblemen.
There was low door called lower gate. The lower gate was different from lofty gate. It was lower than the wall. So, people most lower their body through this gate. I laughed when I knew why it was called lower gate. I thought it was tiresome to low level.
Inside of lofty gate, there was Noan-dang, the Sa-rang-chae of Unhyeon Palace. Noan-dang meant "Living comfortably in old age". I thought here was very peaceful to living because guards and servants kept safely.
Next building, Norak-dang was the largest building in Unhyeon Palace. King Gojong and Queen Min held the wedding ceremony. So, a new house was necessary for Heungseon Daewongun's family.
Last, Iro-dang was built another Anche with shaped ㅁ(square). I thought it was very too small to live Heungseon Daewongun's family except for yard and Anche,Norak-dang.
I thought Unhyeon Palace is very comfortable and peaceful.
