Today, we went to Gyeongbok palace. Gyeongbok palace is the most main and important palace of the other 4 palaces in Josun Dynasty.
In the front part, you can see a bridge. It is used to divide the king's place and the ordinary people's place. In here, there are stone statues and they are made to protect the palace from evil sprits in the water. When you go further in, you can see GeonJeongJeon. It is the most important place in the palace. The king used to meet other foreign people and worked there. There are rating stones on the left and right side. The left side is for the civil people and the right side is for the military officers. The middle was for the royal family. You can see at the another place, SaJeoung Jeon. At there, the king worked with other officials. He studied at there, too. In GangNeong Jeon, the king and son stayed. There were no dragon ridges there since there weren't two kings. In GyoTaeJeon, the queen stayed there and had babies in GeonSunGak. There was a beautiful garden there and was for the queen not to be bored. Lastly there is JaGyeongJeon, where the king's mother stayed. There were flower walls and everlasting figures like turtle and crane. Gyeonghoeru has a square pond and a round land. The square meant earth and the round part meant heaven. It is a place where the royal family rested.
I think Gyeongbok palace is the most beautiful palace I ever went. I was surprised that Gwanghwamun was rebuilt 2 times and remodeled 1 time. Gyeongbok palace has a great scene, but has sort of a sad history because of Gwanghawamun being destroyed a lot of times. |
