Today, we went to the Gyeongbok Palace in Mariestory. The Gyeongbok palace was the main and the first palace to be used and built. In the Geongbok palace, there are the outer palace and inner palace. The outer palace is used for ceremonies, events, and etc. Sa-Jeong-Jeon and Geun-Jeong-Jeon is included in the outer palace. The inner palace is used for official work and etc. Kang-Nyeong-Jeon and the Kyo-Tae-Jeon is included in the inner palace. Kang-Nyeong-Jeon is where the King slept and rested. Usually there is a dragon ridge on a building, but there is not on the Kang-Nyeong-Jeon because there is already the King staying in there. Kyo-Tae-Jeon is the Queen's living quarter. Since the Queen cannot go outside of the palace, the King made a beautiful garden called Ahmisan for her. Also, there was a high stair to prevent the Queen to exit the palace. In the Geongbok Palace, there is an extremely sad memory. Queen Min, a woman who married with King Go-Jong, was assassinated by the Japanese people. The only reason was that Queen Min was close to Russia, when the Japanese people wanted to rule Korea. I think that the Gyeongbok Palace has an endless beauty, too. It is because of the Gyeong-Hoe-Ru. It has the square pillars in the outside, and the round pillars in the inside, following the Yin and Yang theory. The total pillars are 48. I think that I had a very good time today.
