Do you know where crown prince Sado died? Do you know a palace built by Seong-jong?

Changgyeong Palace has a sad history. Crown prince Sado died in a rice chest. And Japan changed it to a zoo but it was rebuilt in 1984.

In the Outer Palaces, there is Myeongjeongjeon, Munjeongjeon and Sungmundang.

Myeongjeongjeon is for the official events, ceremonies and civil service exams. Sungmundang is a place for academic discussion. And

in the Munjeongjeon, people had public works there.

In the inner palaces, there is Gyeongchunjeon, Hwangyeongjeon, Yanghwadang and Tongmyeongjeon. Theseinner palaces was used for daily life of the royal family. Gyeongchunjeon was a place for the queens. Jeongjo and Heonjong were born here. Hwangyeongjeon was built as a sleeping room for kings. Tongmyeongjeon was a living place for the king and queen. It is the biggest building. Last, Hwaminjeong was the place where Yeongjo met the successful students at the civil service exam here.

And now I will tell you about Dancheong. There is 5 colors. Red, black, green, white and yellow. Red means fire. Black means water. Green means tree and white means metal. Last yellow means earth.

Japsang is small figures on the roof. People believed they were protected from bad sprits and fire. They were from the Journey to the west. There are Buddhist monk, monkey and pig.

I learned many things especially Dancheong. It was not for the king, but it was very splendid. I want to go there again.
