Today, I will tell you about 창경palace. 창경palace was built by king 세종 in 1418. ank it was burn down in1592(임진왜란). It was re builted by 광해군 in 1616. By a big fire, it was ruined in 1830. Once again it was re builted in 1834. This is the history of 창경palace.
홍화문, the main gate of 창경palace is the most splendid gate among the 5 palaces in seoul. when you past 홍화문, you can see a stone brige, called 옥천교. It separate the holy land of king from normal land. There is a two arch. It's called 홍예. and between that arch, there is a monster carving to protect the palace from evil sprits.
If you pass 옥천교, you can see the main hall 명정전. It held offical events and works. Next there is 문정전. It's the king's office. 숭문당 is a place for academic discussion.
Now, the inner palace. In the center, there is 통명전, King and queen's room. 경춘전 is for queen's. King 정조 and 현종 was born here. 환경전 is a 내전. but sometimes king use it for a sleeping room.
When you step into the inner palace, first you can see 함인정. It's a meeting place for king and successful students at civil service exam.
You finshed hearing about the buildings. and you can see 단정 and 잡상 too. Even it is a small palace, it's very grand and beutiful palace.
