Hello, everyone? My name is 배형준, and my english name is Alex. In Joseon Dynasty, there is a religon called Confucianism. Confucianism is for strengthen King's power. And also for a political ideology. There were four things : humanity, righteousness., courtesy, and knowledge. Confucinism was developed in 16th century.
There are two famous Korean Confucianism scholars. Yi Hwang and Yi I. Yi Hwang is systemizied Neo-confucianism, and Yi-I was famous for suggest to train 100,000 soliders against invasions.
And there was a test named Gwa geo. Gwa geo is divide into two. First examination and civil examination. If you pass the First examination, you can take an civil examination. After the civil examination, there are 5th prizes, 1st is 장원급제, who can get 종 6품, and 2nd and 3rd prize is 방안급제, who can get 종 7품. 을과 is 탐화급제, who can get 종 8품, 병과 is 급제, who can get 종 9품.
I will introduce one more thing. It is Munmyo. Munmyo is Korea's prmacy confucian shrine. In that there is confucian picture and many other confucian scholars.
I think 성균관 is just for university, but it was wrong. If I was born that dynasty, I would not take a civil exam, because I have to study 1000 chinese characters! It is too many. I don't understand how they could study, and memorize. Maybe they are more smarter than today? |
