Seoul Museum of History
Today, we went to 'Seoul Museum of History'. Seoul museum of history shows people's lifestyle during Joseon Dynasty. In 1392, King Taejo established Joseon Dynasty, and chose Hanyang as a capital. King Taejo chose Hanyang because Hanyang's location was good.
During Joseon Dynasty, people had an ID card called 'Hopae'. Hopae contains a person'a name, birth date, and their class. People showed Hopae to the gatekeepers to enter the gate. Also, Hopae helped to know population of people.
At the time of Joseon Dynasty, people wore traditional Korean clothes. Common people wore white clothes made of cotton and hemp. On the other hand, noble people wore colorful clothes made of silk. This is because dye was expensive at that time. And government officials wore 'Samo'. Samo had 'Hyunbae' on it, and it had picture of crane and tigers. It represented class.
In Joseon, because its capital was Hanyang, Hanyang was the central marketplace. There were two kinds of markets, and they are licensed market, and unlicensed market. For example, shops like 'Sijeon' were licensed markets. However, shops like 'Nanjeon' were unlicensed markets.
I learned many things about Joseon people's lifstyle. After learning, I could understand how people lived at that time. It was valuable time learning about the old day's lifestyle.
