Today in Mariestroy, I wen to the SEoul Museum of History. This place describes and contains information of Korea's history, such as Joseon's establishments, and more. 1 thing I really liked in this museum was the embroidered cranes or tigers on noblemens' clothes. If the crane is embroidered, that nobleman is a civil officer. But if one has a tiger, it means that he is a military officer. The civil officers' cranes meant integrity, and the tigers of the military officers stood for bravery. These patterens are called Hweung-Bae. But the officers couldn't have a dragon pattern because only the king and crown prince could use it. I felt this was interesting because I never thought that people living before could seperate the ranks by animals. |
