From my home to the Seoul National History Museum, it took about an hour and 20 minutes, by subway and walking through the gushy wind. Though the way to museum was fatigued and troublesome it was worth going it, the Seoul National History Museum. Though nearly half of the museum was under construction, we could see many interesting things about out National History, especially about Hanyang the capital of Joseon Dynasty.
With Vegas teacher I found out that LG stands for Lucky Gumsung, not 'Life is good' like their motto and logo nowadays. Also we laughed loudly when we saw an ignorant company's crane, '돌격 벽돌'. '돌격' means to crash ignorantly, and it rhymed with 벽돌, so it was quite funny. Following our old indications were very interestingm seeing infantile character like 호돌이, the mascourt of 88 Olympic. The exhibit was mainly about Seoul's success from the ending of 6/25 war to nowadays, and I agree with the teacher about that by 88 Olympic we could earn the miracle of Han River, taking it as our footold of financial development.
Moreover with Jamila teacher, I learned many interesting stories like embroidered patterns, epic poem, a folding screen, markets, 원구단, and Joseon's clothes. The one especially I was excited was the embroidered patterns, and I like the part that I talked with Jamila teacher about different cognition about dragons between European and Asian people.
European people fear the dragons and make it as negative imaginary creature, for instance, dragon in Shreck and Sleeping beauty. In contrast Asian people love the dragons and make it as positive symbol, even use for the symbol of Emperor, King, and crown Prince. Also the feature of European dragon is quite scary, fearsome and bursts out fire every where, and always kidnapps a beautiful princess. Neverthless, Asian dragon is more like a creature with dragon head and fish body, also very peaceful and arcane. So it was very interesting talking that.
I think Seoul History Museum is the most superior place for education in Seoul's history. From 위례성 of Backje to Hanyang of Joseon, and finally to Seoul of South Korea. Seoul is a museum and history itself, and a good model for Korea for rising to the global country.
Thank you. ^^ |
