Hi! My name is Ju-won, and today I went to Namsan Hanok Village.
I saw tiled roof houses. The noblemen used to live in there. In the tiled roof house, there are Sarangchae, Anchae, and Haengnangchae.
Sarangchae is a men's room. They usually studied in there. In the room there are four precious things to study, which is papers, ink sticks, ink stones, and brushes.
Anchae is a room for women. They cooked and embroidered in there. Women and men were separated, because of confucianism. Confucianism is a belief that men are more powerful than women.
Haengnangchae is a small room for servants. It is next to the gate, so that they could welcome the guests in to the house.
There are no bathrooms in the tiled roof houses, because of the smell. But instead, there are chamber pots for urine.
Today, I learned that Hanok is a very interesting and has our ancester's wisdom in it. |
