Today, we went to National Folk Museum in Gyeongbok Palace. It was very big with a lot of treasure and a lot of details and informatons. Starting from prehistoric times to the end of the Joseon Dynasty. I will mainly talk about the way they live in each 4 seasons.
First, In spring it was a start of a farming. People break up the land for farming and planting. Trees and flowers and other plants started to wake up.
Next, In summer they usually have a lot of break because the weather is too hot. So, they wear clothes that are made of ramie and hemp. Also, they dye their clothes into the natural color.
Third, people started to harvest their crops because the autumn is the harvest time. Also, they help some memorial services for their ancestors with their first harvested crops. They prepare for the winters.
Finally, the winter comes. In winter it is hard to farming and gathering a food. So, they made Kimchi to eat in the winter. It is called 'Gimjang'. Now days, we did gimjang every winter for prepare the food at winter. They made quilted clothes or padded clothes for the family.
Each 4 seasons, people do different things. As you see, they also wear different types of clothes. I think our ancestors were very good at thinking how to survive in this area of season. |
