Weren't you curious about the past Korean's life? Today I went to the National Folk Museum. I learned lot of useful and historical facts related to Korea. I want to talk about the life of Koreans. When a baby was born, a straw rope was hung over the gate of that house. If a boy was born, coals and red peppers were attatched. If a girl was born, coals and pine branches were attatched. This straw rope meant to prevent the evil spirits to come in to the house and to warn people to not enter the house. tThe babies died a lot when they were young,so the people in the past celebrated the 100th day after the baby's birth. They also celebrated the baby's first birthday. The baby was told to grab one of these things; book, rice, money, and thread. Book meant scholar, rice and money meant richness, and thread meant living long. The coming of age is the ceremony held when a child become to an adult. It is held for the age 15~20. I was extremely amazed about these new facts about the lives of the past people. Thank you. |
