Today I went to Korean Folk Museum. From now on I'm going to tell you about 100th day celebration and first birthday.

        Many years ago the child survivial rate was very low. Many of them are died from disease or something else. Thus, they live for a long time was difficult. So, they make 100th day celebration and first birthday.

       On the 100th day celebration, family made rice cakes and passed them around to neighbors because they thought when they shared rice cakes then their child would live long.

       On the first birthday, the child is seated before a table of various things such as book, rice or money, and thread. Each have their own meanings. Book is for scholar, rice or money is for rich and thread is for live long. When I was young I pick pencil which mean scholar.

      In addition, when child born, people put straw rope. For boys, they put pepper with straw and for girls they put pine tree branches with straw. They put straw rope to keep away from evil spirits. I think the straw rope is good thing. Because, it can be special decoration with good meanings.

     After I went to Korean Folk Museum, I learn many things especially life of Koreans. And from these I can know the differences between these days and Joseon people's lives.
