Today, I went to
the National Folk Museum of Korea. The National Folk Museum is telling us about
Korea peninsula lifestyle and historical artifacts. I was interested in Joseon
Dynasty’s different life style in different season.
When spring
starts, people start to prepare for the farming such as making ground. They also
used fertilizers to make the ground rich. And in the spring, flowers like
azalea and forsythia blossomed.
In the summer,
the crops started to grow. Because the farmers didn’t have to do farming in
this period, they made clothes by using ramie and hemp.
During the autumn,
it was the time of harvesting. Farmers harvested their crops. When the farmers
harvest the first crops, they had a time like Thanks Giving Day called ‘Chu-Seok’.
They had a memorial service for the ancestors in Chuseok.
In
the winter time, it is too cold to farm, so farmers did not worked in the
fields. Instead, they did ‘Gimjang’ which is preparing Kimchi. They also made
warm clothes to have a nice winter.
Going
to the National Folk Museum gave me a lot of knowledge about the lifestyle of
Korea peninsula. I could understand about their life more and I felt like I was
in the past. It was valuable time to me and I liked it! Thank you~!
