Today in Marie Story I went to the Natioal Folk Museum. There I had so~~ much fun and I learned many things. However, the most fun thing to learn about was about the life of Koreans and comparing it to my mordern life.As you know to live in ths world we have to have the process of birth. At the old times in the moment you are born your level was chosen. This means that if you are born in a noble's house than you are a nobel. On the other hand if you are born in a poor house than you are a cmmon person. However in mordern days even if we are born in a poor family we can have goo jobs and become a billionare. In the Josan times it was hard to live long even if a baby is born. Therefore for the baby we did two ceremonies. We do one when it passes the 100th day this is called baek-il and the other one was when it passes 1year. It is called dol. These ceremonies last untill this time. Now they grow a little and they are now ready to be a adult. In Josan times they did a ceremony called 관례 and they become a adult. You might be asking what about the gils right?Girls usually become adults when they are married. We don't do these ceremonies these days but when they graduate colladge adults call them. After the nobels marry they can have success in life. They could do good in the exam and become a official. However the commoners can't have a exam. Then they have no success in life. Now, people has become 60 years old. We do a ceremony that celebrate the long living days. More than that when a person is 70 years old we held a bigger one. I believe the waay to live long was because of the curing. If people was sick they would go to the oriental doctors house. So, they get better. Therefore people live long. Even though there was good curing we all have a end to life whether it is long or short. When we die we have the cremony called Jesa, there are two types, first is Chare. It is held on morning of Holidays. Another one is Gije, it is on the day of the person's death. This is the end of our life in the past. Thank you for listening. |
