The Hwa-rang is an elite group of young men in the Shil-la kingdom. They were usually sons of noble or royal families. They gather to study and to practice martial arts. They were mostly good at archery and were brave. I think that this is why many Hwa-rang grew up to be warriors. They had five rules to follow. First, they had to be loyal to the country. Second, they had to be good to their parents. Third, they were to trust friends. Next, They could never retreat in battle. Last, They could never kill things without reason. I think that the Hwa- rang had a great influence in Korean history, because, as stated previously, many of them grew up to be great people. For example, there is Kim- Yu- Shin, who was a great general. I think that, in one way or another, Shil-la could not have united the three kingdoms without the Hwa-rang.
The Korean war memorial was an excellent place to visit. I greatly enjoyed marveling at the exhibits and imagining what it would have been like in the past, either if I was a soldier in the air force, or the general of the ko-ku-ryeo. This place has turned out to be a great learning experience for me, and I hope to visit this place again someday. Thank you!
