Today, I went to splendid and beautiful Changgyeong Palace. There are many things.

     I'd like to introduce about Changgyeong Palace and things that are in Changgyeong Palace. This palace was originally built by King Seongjong for his mother and grandmother. But it was burned down during Japanese invasion in 1592 and it was rebuilt in 1616 by King Gwanghae.

The outer Palaces are composed of Myeongjeongjeon, sungmundang etc. The inner palaces consist of Yanghwadang, Tongmyeongjeon etc. The resting place is Huwon where the royal family used.

      These are the buildings which are in Changgyeong Palace. First, Honghwamun is the main gate. It's the most splendid gate. Second, Sungmundang. It was a place for academic discussions. And the signboard was written by King Yeongjo. Third is Haminjeon. It was the place for awarding the best students who took the civil service exam. I want to introduce more, but I'd better stop here.

      Next, I'll tell you Dancheong, that is the colorful Korean-styled decoration. It was used on the roof of the palace and temple and there are some colors. Red means fire, Black means water, Green or Blue means tree or wood, White means metal and Yellow means earth.

     Last, Japsang. Japsang are the small figures. People believed that they protected the building from fire. The figures are Buddhist monk, monkey,pig and the lion. These were from the Chinese novel 'Journey to the west'.

     After this class, I learned that Korean culture never behind from the other cultures. If I have a chance i want to come here again, and look around all of the buildings in Changgyeong Palace.
