Last time, I visited the Changyeong Palace. This palace was built by King Seongjong for his mother and grandmother. Sadly, Changgyeong Palace was burnt during the Japanese invasion of 1592. Fortunately, King Gwanghae rebuilt this place in 1616. There were many beautiful structures. However, obviously I can only remember sad stories in this beautiful place. For this reason, I¡¯d like to tell you about the sad stories that occurred in Changgyeong Palace.

 First of all, crown prince Sado died here. He was put to death because of party strife. At that time, there were Noron and Soron which had opposite opinions all over the policy. King Youngjo was close with Noron. However, crown prince Sado was close with Soron. Noron was afraid that if Soron would become stronger when crown prince Sado became king. So Noron told the bad activities of crown prince Sado to King Youngjo. King Youngjo became furious. He put crown prince Sado in the rice chest and didn¡¯t give him any water or food. I¡¯ve always respected King Youngjo because he had achieved great things for people in Choseon . However, I think that he had very stupid decision.

 Next sad story is death of Lady Jang. Lady Jang was the mother of King Gyeonjong. She wished Gyeongjong to be king. But, King Sukjong liked Youngjo more than Gyeongjong. So, Lady Jang tried to kill the mother of Youngjo. Fortunately, (I think) she failed to assasinate the mother of Youngjo so she was put to death. I think the thing that killed Lady Jang is the greediness of herself.
