Today I went to Seoul Museum of History. First I learned about Why King Taejo moved Gaegyeong to Hanyang. He chose Hanyang because of its beautiful nature and central location. Also there was a mountain and river to protect. Next, I learned about EPIC POEM. Before Hangeul was invented by King Sejong The Great, Korea used Chinese character. Epic poem was the first book written in Korea. This book tells us how the Joseon Dynasty was established. Next we learned about Hopae. A hopae was an ID card. On the front there was a name, class and date of birth. The back has the date of issue. People showed this to the gatekeeper before they entered the gate. Next we learned about Traditional Korean clothes. The common people wore white clothes dyes were expensive. Their clothes are made cotton and hemp. Noble people wore colorful clothes made of silk. The government offcials wore official uniforms called Samo and Gwandae. Common people could wear Samo and Gwandae on their wedding days. Next we learned about Embroidered Patterns. Official uniforms had and embroidered patch on their chest called Hyung-bae. Hyung-bae had different animal patterns based on class. Only the King and crown prince could have a dragon pattern. Civil officials had crane patterns, which symbolized integrity. Military officials had tiger patterns, which represented bravery.
It was a great experience to know about how Korea established and what was hard time in Korea and I knew about war 6.25 well.
