Hi! My name is Denny and I will introduce you about the palace with western style building.
Today, I went to Gyeongungung Palace. Japanese changed Gyeongungung to Deoksungung Palace. I was excited because Gyeongungung Palace contained western styled buildings.~
Gyeongungung Palace looked like this. The main gate of this palace was Daehanmun(대한문). If we go in, we can see Junghwajeon (중화전)and Junghwamun(중화문). Junghwajeon(중화전) was in the middle, and it was for official events. There was the king’s throne inside Junghwajeon(중화전) and there was also Irowlobongbyeong(일월오봉병) inside too.
If we go in farther from the gate, we can see many other buildings. Seokeodang(석어당), and Jeonggwangheon(정관헌) was the remarkable buildings. It was too sad to hear that king Gwanghaegun had locked Queen Mother Inmok. Jeonggwangheon is remarkable too because of the story about how people drank coffee long time ago.
Also, I had two buildings that were not remarkable at ALL. It was Junmyeongdang(준명당), and Seokjojeon(석조전). Junmyeongdang was just a original building that existed long time ago. It had nothing really special. Seokjojeon(석조전) was not remarkable too because of the following reasons. Seokjojeon was western-styled building. However I wanted our culture’s traditional building in our palace!
I saw the buildings carefully and I saw the same things. There were Japsang. Japsang had the characters in the novel, Journey to the West. It has Buddhist monk Samjang, the monkey Sonogong, the pig Jeopalgye, and the imaginary water ghost Saojeong.
Like these, there are many characteristics to this palace, Gyeongungung Palace. I really like this palace. However, the western- styled building made me sad. On the other hand, I was really happy to see Gyeongungung Palace which was unique. I really like this palace.
This is the end of my presentation and thank you for listening. |
