Today, I'd like to tell you about Gyeongungung Palace. The original name of Deoksugung Palace was Gyeongungung Palace. The name was changed by the Japanese. Gyeongungung Palace is very unique because it was the first palace to contain some western-style buildings.

Originally, Gyeongungung Palace was the private house of the older brother of King Seonjong who completed the law of Joseon Dynasty after the Japanese invasion of 1592. However, the King Gwanghaegun later moved to Changdukgung Palace.

Daehanmun is the main gate of Gyeongungung Palace. Originally, the main gate was Inwhamun but roads around it were narrow.

Next, I will tell you about Junghwajeon. Junghwajeon, the building in the middle, was the most important building because it was the place for official events. Inside Junghwajeon is the throne, which is beautifully decorated. The folding screen at the back of the throne is called Irwolobongbyeong. It shows King's dignity.

Next, I will tell you about Seokeodang. Seokeodang is the only two storey buildingin the palace. Inmok, Queen Mother, was locked in Seokeodang under the order of King Gwanghaegun.

Next, I will tell you about Seokjojeon. Seokjojeon is a westrn style stone building. It has a living room for government officials, areception hall and bedrooms for theKing and queen.

It was a good experience. If I have time I'd like to go in to the Seokjojeon.
