My Memorable Experience at Kyungbok Palace
The Kyungbok Palace was beautiful after it snowed. It was where I spent my morning. There are 5 palaces in Seoul: Kyungbok Palace, Kyunghui Palalce, Kyungun Palace, Changyung Palace, and Changduk Palace. The Kyungbok Palace is the main palace and the first palace to be built.
First, we saw the Kwanghwa-mun, the main entrance of the Kyungbok Palace. Kwangjwa-mun has a sad story. It was destroyed during the Japanese invasion, and Jeungseon-dae-won-gun (the father of Go-jong, the 26th King) re-built it. Then, during the Japanese occupation, it was moved to the north of the Gun-chun mun. Afterwards, it was destroyed again, during the Korean war. Later on, President Park Jung-Hui restored the palace. Then finally, the palace was rebuilt in the original location in 2010.
I have been to the Kyungbok Palace several times. But, this time, I have learned more than any time before. It was interesting that the chimneys for Kyo-tae-jeon (the queen¡¯s living quarter¡¯s) were at Ah-misan, the palace garden, and that they had the technology to extend the chimney system so far.
I look forward to my visits to other palaces. My story will continue then. |
