Hello, everyone. My name is Tony. I wrote an essay about the myth of our history's first country, Gojoseon.
When I was at the National Museum of Korea, I was interested about the myth of Gojoseon because Gojoseon's myth was similar to fantasy nobles.
God's son, Hwanung came down to the land and met a bear and a tiger who wanted to become a person. So Hwanung said,"If you eat garlics and mugworts in a cave for 100 days, you will become a person." A bear and a tiger went to the cave and started to eat garlics and mugworts, but few days later tiger gave up and ran away. Bear did not give up and became a woman. Hwanung married with her and gave a birth to Dangun. Dangun established Gojoseon and became a ruler.
In my opinion, I think there were two tribes who worshipped each bear and a tiger who wanted to unite with Hwanung, so Hwanung gave a little task and united with the bear tribe who suceeded. Also, I think that Dangun is a person from the united tribe.
Gojoseon's myth is very mysterious. I'm sad that we can't know the meaning of it. I hope in the future, we could know the meaning of it. I thank a lot to Dangun for starting history of Korea. Thank you for listening. |
