Today, we went to the national folk museum. We learned about a lot of the folk of Chosun. It was very interesting to learn about them. I was very surprised by the good skills of our ancestors.
When a baby was born, the people hung a rope named Geum-Jull. If the baby was a boy, they hung Charcoal and red pepper onto the Geum-Jull. In the other hand, if the baby was a girl, they hung the pine trees and white paper on the Geum-Jull.
Also, I learned about the Hanok which is the traditional Korean house. The Rich people lived in a House made of Black tile, on the other hand the unwealthy people lived in the house made of straw. In Hanok, there was a room named Sarangchae, which was for the men and the people that were invited. There is an Anchae, which was for women. It was protected from the other men. The Hanok's boiler was Ondol, which uses the fire from the stove.
I think I learned a lot of impressive things today, and I learned that the Folk is a very valuable thing to us. Thank you for listening. |
