Dancheong is the colorful Korean-styled decorations that are used on buildings. During the Joseon Dynasty, palaces and Buddhist temples were painted with Dancheong. Each color has its own special symbol.
Red represents fire; Black represents water; white represents metal; Green or blue represents tree or wood; Yellow represents earth.
Japsang is the fingures on the roof of the palace buildings. You can see the master of Buddhist monk Sam-Jang, Sonogong, Jeopalgye, and Saojeong. These are the characters from the chinese novel, Journey to the west. People trusts that Japsang stop the evil ghosts from the sky.
