Today, I went to ChangGyeongGung Palace. It has many beautiful buildings, but I want to talk about TongMyeongeon which was the most interesting place for me.
TongMyeongeon was a living place for queens. Kings sometimes lived there as well. Queen Inhyeon also lived there and it shows the majesty of Korean buildings. One thing special is that TongMyeongeon doesn't have a dragon ridge. It's because people believed that there shouldn't be two dragons under one roof. Because dragon represents king, people removed dragon ridge from TongMyeongeon's roof. This led TongMyeongeon to be differed from other buildings.
I liked TongMyeongeon the most because of it's feature. Even though many buildings in ChangGyeongGung looked similar, it doesn't have dragon ridge so that I can figure it out from other buildings. |
