I knew the fact that Gyeongungung(경운궁) is same as Deoksugung(덕수궁) for the first time. It was because Japanese changed the name. I was surprised when I first knew this fact, but I was also sad that Korean don't know the real name of Deoksugung.
First of all, Daehanmun(대한문) is the main gate of Gyeongungung. We can call it as Daeanmun(대안문), because after the big fire in Gyeongungung, people changed Daehanmun to Daeanmun. Secondly, Junghwajeon(중화전) is the main building, and it's different from other palaces because it's window's color is yellow. Other main buildings in other palaces have green windows. Inside Junghwajeon, there is Irwolobongbyeong(일월오봉병), and there are sun, moon, five mountains, river and pinetrees. Sun is equal with the king, moon means queen, five mountains mean civil officers, and pinetrees are the land of Joseon(조선). It was really fun for me to look around Gyeongungung, because it is one of my favorite palace. Thank you.^_^
