Actually I thought we were going to the National Folk museum today, so I prestudied about the National Folk museum. I didn't know almost everything about the History museum. So I had to listen to my teacher more carefully than last times. Despite of some misunderstandings, I could find some interesting things about the museum.
One thing is the Six Ministries Street. At first, I thought it was the king's way. But it wasn't. It was the street leading up to Gwanghwamun. It was called Yukjogeori in korean because the compounds for the government offices lined the east and west side. 'The Six' of the street is '이호예병형공', each has it's meanings. Actually this wasn't that interesting but it was the most biggest discovery in the museum. It is the thing which impressed on my memory, too.
Another thing is that there were 3 different places according to the social status. 북촌 is for noblemen, 중촌 is for experts, and 남촌 is for poor noblemen. I heard about 북촌, but I didn't know that there were 중촌 and 남촌. Also looking at the places which divided with the social status, it's like today's 강남 and 강북.
Today we didn't see the part of Japanese Occupation because of the time lack. So I want to visit again next time to see them. Thank you. |
