Do you know 경복궁? It's Joseon's main palace. We went to 경복궁 today and saw many things such as 근정전, 건청궁, and 교태전. So I'll introduce about that three. First, there is 근정전. 근정전 is a outer palace for national affairs or important ceremonies. For example, coronation and royal weddings. There is 24 ranking stones too. Second, there is 건청궁. 건청궁 was built by 고종. He built this building with his private money so it's very simple and not much colorful. 고종 plant plum tree infront of 건청궁 because plum tree means never give up. I think he plant it because he want to show he'll never give up. And also there is some sad story in 건청궁. 명성황후 was assosinated by Japanese in there. Lastly, there is 교태전. 교태전 is very cozy, cute and colorful place for queen. Also there is beautiful small garden called 아미산. On the 아미산, there are 4 chimneys that have many pictures of plants and animals, for example, plum trees, pine trees, and bats. But it's winter now so I don't think 아미산 was not that beautiful. In 경복궁, there were many animals such as monkeys, phenixe, or 해태 to protect the palace. When I saw that, I learn that Joseon people believe that animals are protecting their palace and nation. Also, I think Unesco have to protect 경복궁 like 창덕궁 or 창경궁. |
