Today, I went to the Geongbokgung Palace. This palace was Joeson dynasty's main palace. The name 'Geongbok' means 'great fortune'.

Gyeongbokgung Palace was made by King Taejo in 1394,  when he moved the capital to Hanyang. Taejo built the palace here because according to Feng Shui, the location of Geongbokgung Palace has mountains behind, and a stream in the front. It means it's a best place to build a palace. But, during the Japanese invasion in 1592, the Japanese troops burned the palace. After this, it wasn't rebuilt until Heungseon Daewongun, King Gojong's father restored it at 1872. During the Japanese occupation, it was destroyed because the Japanese built their government building in the palace. Nowdays, some of the buildings that were destroyed by the Japanese were restored.

After I went to Geongbokgung Palace and learn about it, I think we have to remember Geongbokgung Palace's suffering History, and also we have to have interest in cultural assets and help protecting it.
