The animals in the Korean myth ¡°Dangun myth¡± were important for many causes. First of all, the animals, bear and tiger were the representation of the tribes. For example, when the bear eats the mugworts and garlic which represents the totem of scaring away ghosts, the bear becomes a woman and marries Hwanoong. This is a representation of the bear tribe uniting with the Hwanoong tribe. Also, the cave in the Dangun myth symbolizes the bad spirits. There are some myths related to the Dangun myth like the myth of Romulus and Remus where Romulus and Remus are sent to wolves to get cared for or the buddhism myth of an elephant foretelling the mother of Sidhartha Gautama that the son will become an important figure. Animals are important figures in many myths and legends as well as in the modern period.
