I learned a lot of things at the Korea University museum. However, I'd like to explain about symbols and motifs of household appliances from the Joseon Dynasty, because it was the most luring thing to learn.

To begin with, there are seven important motifs in the Joseon Dynasty. Happiness, harmony, fertility, prominence, longevity, wealth, and repelling evil spirits. Happiness wishes for peace and satisfaction. Symbols for it usually were used in rings, pillow ends and hair ribbons. Harmony is symbolized by mandarin ducks, butterflies, fish, birds and etc. Fertility was symbolized by chestnuts, grapes, eggplants, and peppers. Prominence is symbolized by carp, roosters, deer, and crabs meaning success in state examinations. Longevity was symbolized by the sun, mountains, water, stone, clouds, pine trees, turtles, cranes, deer and the herb of eternal youth. Wealth was symbolized by water grass, peonies and plantations. Wealth did not only mean material wealth but also spiritual achievements. Finally, demon faces and courageous tigers, lions dogs, hawks and more symbolized repelling evil spirits.`

 It was a nice time, and a good chance to learn about diverse ideas and knowledge.
