I enjoyed your essay while reading it cause it made me imagine the moment King Kojong drinking the coffee for the first time. Yes..the place was 정관헌. Have you watched the movie '가비'? If you missed this, I strongly recommend this one. Because it's good to understand the end of Joseon Dynasty and how hard for Kojong to keep Joseon from Janpan and other countries that wanded to control.
One more, if you look at carefully, 정관헌 is western style but there are also oriental and Korean traditional style pattern. The balcony there are bats, pine-trees and other subjects representing the longivity.^^
