Today I went to the Gyeongungung palace and saw and learned about the buildings inside Gyeongungung palace. First we saw the Jungwajeon palace it was used for ceremonies such as coronation, weddings, and civil tests. Then we went to the Seokeodang. This building had lots of tragic events such as Inmok getting trapped in this building because of king Gwanghaegun¡¯s order. There were lots of stone figures on the roof of Junghwajeon and those are called japsang. The origin of the japsang was from a story called Seoyugi and some of the characters were put on the roof to avoid bad luck. On this trip out of all the buildings I had seen, my favorite building was the Jeonggwangheon. It was my favorite building because it was the only building that had a mixture of Korean and Western architectural design. I think I learned a lot about the buildings in Gyeongung palace and thought that it had been a good experience for me.
