Today, we went to a palace named Gyeongungung. It's name was  Gyeongungung, but it was changed to Deoksugung by the Japanese. First, we went through the door named Daehanmun, which is the main gate of Gyeongungung. This gate has been the main gate since 1902.

      After that, we crossed a bridge named Okcheongyo, and people believed that they could meet the king after they washed their bad spirits. This bridge also connected the holy area of the king, with the common land.

     When we got in, there were many buildings, but main ones were Junghwajeon, and Hamnyeongjeon.

First, in front of the Junghwajeon, there a picture named Dapdo, and every other palaces have a picture of a Phoenix which meantthe king, but  Junghwajeon's Dapdo is a picture of a dragon. This is because the dragon means an emperor.

     Second, is the  Hamnyeongjeon. It was  the king's sleeping place. King Gojong died here and the last emperor, king Sunjong, somtimes stayed here.

      There is also many other buildings like the seokjojeon, which was the king's living quarter and is a western style stone building, and Seokeodang, which is the only two story building in the palace, and the king's mother Inmok was caught by gwanghaegun. Also, there was Jeonghwangheon, which was the place the king drank tea or coffee, and listened to music.

      I think it was a good time, so I think the time we saw, explained, and asked were worthwhile.
