Today I visited Gyeongungung Palace, the original name of Deoksugung Palace. It was named by Japanese, so I feel we had better call it to Gyeongungung Palace.

First, I arrived Daehanmun, which is the main gate of Gyeongungung Palace. Passing Daehanmun, I saw Okcheon Bridge. It has two kinds of way. The higher one is for king, and the lower one is for common people and officials.

Next, I saw Jungwhajeon, the place for official events. It has many Japsang, showing us Jungwhajeon was important building.

Then, I saw Deokhonjeon. It was the reception hall for foreign guests. There was Irwol obongbyeong. Sun on Irwol obongbyeong means a king, moon means a queen, and five mountains mean a land of Korea. Water means common people, and pine tree means a government official.

And then, there were four buildings-Seokeodang, Jeukjodang, Junmyeongdang, and Hamnyeongjeon. Jeukjodang and Junmyeongdang are connected. Seokeodang is the only two story building in the palace. King Gwanghaegun, king of the Joseon Dynasty, locked Queen Mother Inmok who is his mother. Seokjojeon Hall is made by stone. It has living room, reception hall, kitchen and bedroom for officials, king and queen.

Finally, I went Jeonggwangheon and sat there. It was the place for Emperor Gojong to rest.

I had fun at Deoksugung Palace because it has many great buildings.
