I went to 경운궁 which is westernized today and learned many things about it. First, I learned about 중화전. 중화전 was the main building in a palace 경운궁, and it was place for official events. Inside the 중화전, there is a folding screen called 일월오봉병. Sun represents the king, moon represents the queen, 5 mountains represent 5 land in 조선, and water represents the people of 조선. Second, I learned about 석어당. 인목 대비 was locked in here by 광해군, because she wasn't 광해군's real mother. And, 석어당 was only building that didn't have 단청. Last, I learned about some stories about 경운궁. There's a 드므 in 경운궁and it was used for putting out fire. People filled water in 드므, because people believed when a spirit of fire see its own face by reflection, they'll be frightened and run away. And there's 잡상 with characters of 서유기. They were for protecting the palace. I want to go to 경운궁 again and I 'm glad that I learned many in there. |
