Today, I went to Seodaemun Prison History Hall which was built in 1908 and was closed down in 1987. It was for capturing freedom fighters and patriot to torture and question them. Now it is used as a museum. Frist, there was many important events such as 강화도 조약, 청일전쟁, 을미사변, 러일전쟁, March 1st Movement. March 1st Movement nwas started by 33 leaders. It was a movement against the Japanese harsh ruling. Second, we learned about some famous freedom fighters and patriots such as 강우규, 안중근, and Yu kwan Sun. Yu kwan Sun was a student in Ewha Women's school and she joined the March 1st Movement and died because she was tortured too hard. Unlike Yu kwan Sun there was the Five traitors of 1905 who gave the independence of Korea to Japan. Lastly, there was many kinds of torture such as water tourture, fingernail tourture, wall coffin torture. By having a trip to Seodaemun Prison History Hall, I learned that we should be thankful for freedom fighters because without their love for the nation we would not be living like now. |
