Hello, my name is Dasom Lee.  Today, we visited Gyeongungung Palace. I was glad because I saw many beautiful buildings in Gyeongungung Palace. Because it has some western styled buildings, it was very unique. I saw many buildings like Junghwajeon, Jeukjodang, Seokeodang, and Hamnyeongjeon. However, all those four buildings are not the original ones.

  In 1904, the palace burnt because of a fire. So the buildings were restored. It is a sad story, but the buildings were still grand. My favorit building in Gyeongangung is Seokeodang, a two-story building. I want to so to the second floor because it seemed very cool to me. When I imagined the original Seokeodang, I was very proud of our ancestors who built many fantastic buildings.

  However, the name of this palace is still a issue. According to a questionnaire from the Cultural assets office, some people insisted that we should change the name of Deoksugung to Gyeongungung, its original name. They say that Deoksugung is not good because it was name by the Japanese. On the other hand, some people disagree. They say that it is not a Japanese remnant. Because Deoksugung means,  "Sunjong and officials serve Gojong well. " I think Gyeongungung is a better name because it is the original name.

  Anyway, I think Gyeongungung Palace is still grand even it was damaged by the Japanese.
