Which type of science do you like? Someone
says they like chemistry, others say they like biology. Among these, my
favorite type of science is physics. It seems like most people, including me,
doesn¡¯t really care a lot about Earth science.
On
today¡¯s class, which took place on Museum of Natural History, I found out Earth
science isn¡¯t only fun but also very fundamental to human. Museum of Natural
History is basically introducing whole Earth¡¯s history.
When
I was young, Dinosaurs were my biggest concerns. We humans or monkeys couldn¡¯t
be together with dinosaurs, which lived in Jurassic period of Mesozoic Era. There
were carnivores as Tyrannosaurus or Trudon, but also herbivores as Stegosaurus. They seemed so huge and powerful,
since I was small and fragile then.
Volcanoes
are mostly extreme danger, but also an extreme beauty. Those red and yellow
magmas burst out with gas and rocks! Those flowing lavas gradually cool off and
become a rock.
The
name of Solar system¡¯s planets refers to Greek gods; I think it is quite
convincing. Those mysterious feelings around planets remind me the power of
Greek gods. Also, I do know the whole zodiac constellation¡¯s name, but not the
order of it. Memorizing the order of it may be good.
Lastly,
about our ancestors. You and I maybe are offspring of same ancestor, Cyanobacteria,
only if you are a land animal. After millions of years, monkeys started to walk
upright, After Australopithecus, Homo habilis, able to use tools, Homo erectus,
able to use fire, Homo neanderthalensis, who believed in afterlife, and finally
Homo sapiens, the intelligent one.
I,
the Homo sapiens sapiens, enjoyed today¡¯s class at Natural History.
