King Gojong is 26th king in Choseon dynasty. His father, Heungseon Daewongun did as a king instead of Gojong because he became king when he was so young. After Gojong grew up, he could took his own position. Gojong was trying to contact with Western and his wife Empress Myeong-Seoung helped him. His wife Empress Myeong-Seoung was trying to gey help from Russia, so Japanese killed her. Gojong was really afraid and thought that he could be killed also. He went to Russia embessedor to survive. He come back to Choseon dynasty after 1 year. Then, he established Korean empire government. He wanted to change Gyeongungung to western style. However, he was retired by Japanese because of Hague envoy. Finally, I think Gojong was a good king for people.
