Hi my name is Ryan and I am going to tell you about my trip to the Seoul musuem of history.

Since it was the Seoul museum of history I thought that there will be a lot of information about Seoul but I was wrong. I prepared and studied about Seoul but, since I didn't have a chance to tell about what I learned at class, I will tell you on this speech what I learned about Seoul while reasearching. First of all I will tell you about the different names of Seoul. At first, the name of Seoul was called Wiryeseong. After that it changed again to hanseong and then, it changed to Hanyang. One interseting fact is that the Jeoseon dynasty lasted for 519 years and Hanyang was the capitol city for 500 years! I think that Hanyang was the capttiol cirty for 500 years beacause according to the Feng Sui theory, a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment, Hanyang has the perfect geograpical location beacause it is surrounded by mountains and has the han river. Anyway I get back on the topic. After the name Hanyang it changed again to gyeongsyeong. Finally, the name Gyeongsyeong changed to present day known as Seoul. What I saw and learned at the museun was about the Jappenese occupation and the events before that. First of all I will talk about the Gyeongun palace the reason I am talking about this palace is because this palace has modernized and korean traditional places. Those places are seokjogeun (see picture at bottom) and junggwanhun (see picture at bottom).  At that time after king Gojong's wife was killed for getting help from Russisans, Gojong had ran away to the Russian legation (Korea royal refuge at the Russian legation) and stayed there for one year and made his mind and changed the contry into the Korean Empire and said that he was not the king but the emperor. This ment that they are in the same rank as China a powerful contry. But after the Russo-Japanese War (1904~1905) (just to get a mental picture in your mind, see picture at bottom)we became almost completely got controlled by Japan. I was shocked that Korea had such a sad history.

Overall, today's trip to the Seoul museum of history was a awesome time to learn about the jappenese occupation period.
