Today, we went to the Gogung Museum. It was the museum of the Joseon palace, Gyeongbokgung. I saw many things there. I went in to the first room of the museum. There was a plastic line which was ful of name of all the kings of Joseon dynesty. We talked about our favorite kings and who is the worst king of Joseon. They answered that it was Sukjong, and I quite agree about it. But my second thought was that if the king did something not understandable to us, there may be a background for doing it. He was a human like us, and he could have thought about the things that happened in the past. I believe that he did things on purpose although the result was bad. We talked aobut many things there. We talked about Sukjong's deeds. They said that Lee Soon Shin died mainly because of Sukjong. Lee Soon Shin became so powerful that the king didn't like him, and maybe the haters of him made up a story and told about it to Sukjong, and made him mad. Then we talked about the king's meals. The king's meal had 24 foods on the king table, including the rice and the soup. The king ate 5 times then. Last of all, I have seen the most remarkable I've seen today. It was the Jagyeongnu. From all my liftime, I've thought that it was just a small simple machine that rang every hour. But it was huge. Actually I coulnd't hold my mouth shot to watch it in flesh. I've seen it ringing. Though it rang at 11:59. Maybe my watch is a little different from the wisdom of my ancestors. It was remarkably remarkable. Actually I felt a little futiled when I heard it ringing. I expected it to be loud, and ringing many times. But as a matter of fact it didn't. It rang once, and I waited and waited. Nothing happened. We just laughed and that was the end of today's learning. |
