It was the first time I had visited Changkyunggung today. When I entered Changkyunggung through the Honghwamun, the main gate, I felt somewhat ashamed of living in Korea for so long but never visiting Changkyunggung. I was mesmerized by the palace's buildings and aspects of nature as I followed my teacher around. I strongly felt that the Korean culture of architecture should not be neglected, for the small details and embelishments on each and every building were intricate and splendid. I was most stunned when I faced the Myungjungdang, which is the where the throne hall is located. The colorful dancheongs decorated on the roofs of the building captivated my attention. I truly revered our ancestor's dexterity in building such beautiful buildings with great detail. Furthermore, I was greatly touched by the lake. It was beautiful, despite the fact that the Japanese had built is as part of their zoo. The white tree that China gifted Korea was also notable- I was struck with awe when I saw a single white tree among a cluster of brown ones. My experience at Changkunggung was very memorable and I learned a lot from it.
